Week 4:Santo Domingo Church and Benito Juarez national park.

Santo Domingo Church.

Week 4: Four weeks have passed by and this is my final week in Oaxaca. I dont want to leave yet but i dont have any other choice. It has been a great experience thus far. This week i decided to take a tour of   Santo Domingo church over the weekend. It is a UNESCO World heritage site and its architecture is influenced by Spanish colonial architecture.
It took 200 years to construct the church and it was finally completed in the 16th century. Interior of the church is highly decorated and has Baroque style art. The alter is made of 23.5 Karat gold.  It is a great spot for people to hang out. The church also has a museum that has artifacts from Monte Alban and other archeological sites in Oaxaca but unfortunately I was not allowed to take pictures in the museum.

The next day I went on my final excursion with the group to Benito Juarez national park. It is located in the central Valley of Oaxaca. It took us an hour and a half to get to the park. The park is known for its ecotourism and is a home for many indigenous threatened species of birds and plants in Oaxaca.
Once we got there we hiked for about an hour to get to the top of the mountain where we zip lined. The view on our way up was breath taking as we walked past flowers of different colors and shape. The hike made me appreciate the natural beauty of Oaxaca.  Once we got to the top we zip lined and hiked back to the van for lunch. This was the best excursion of the trip, the view was fascinating.

Those who are reading this post i encourage you to come to Oaxaca. It has a lot to offer. It is not only beautiful architecturally but it also breathtaking natural beauty.
